I was commissioned to create a new brand for the Operational Network of Air Quality Impact Resources (OPENAIR) and position it as the premier on-stop-shop for expert information and the latest know-how in the use of low-cost air quality sensors for local government. The OPENAIR pilot project was led by the NSW Smart Sensing Network in collaboration with the NSW Department of Climate Change Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

This included creating a new brand design including logo, graphic language, icons, colour palettes, typographic style and brand guidelines. This new brand was then applied to a variety of materials including factsheets, infographics, and branded Word and Powerpoint templates.

We also created a website with general information about OPENAIR, a “Best Practice Guide” which was an encyclopedia of research and factsheets, a blog and contact details. The full website was completed in May 2024, and has subsequently been absorbed within the NSW Government Air Quality Hub.

The project’s resources were used by several councils including City of Parramatta, Lake Macquarie City Council, and City of Newcastle to allow them to successfully install air quality systems and assess their air quality problems and successfully find solutions. Representatives of these councils discuss the success of the project in the video below:
